Beach-Access Condo is a two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment in a waterfront complex on St. Croix's north shore, a few minutes' drive from Christiansted. It has been newly decorated, sleeps six in three beds, and is a few steps from the complex's beach. It is one of the condos managed by SP Vacations, and it is the practical end of their list: light, simple, and close to the water.

The space

The apartment is on a single level, with light tile floors, ceiling fans and air-conditioning. The living and dining room is one open space with a large sectional sofa and a dining table for four. The kitchen is fully equipped, with a dishwasher, an oven and stove, a microwave, a blender and a coffee maker, and a granite island with stools for breakfast. There is a washer and dryer in the unit.

The main bedroom has two queen beds and its own bathroom. The second bedroom has a king bed. The listing suggests the second room for children or extra guests, which means a family of five or six fits without anyone sleeping on the sofa. There is a work desk for anyone who has to keep a laptop open.

The decoration is bright and beachy without being fussy: turquoise accent walls, wooden bed frames, island prints on the walls and blue throws on the beds. Room-darkening shades in the bedrooms help on early mornings, and board games and beach essentials are left for guests, which saves packing for a family week.

The setting

The complex is a long, low building with terracotta roofs along the water, with a shared pool, loungers, a garden and an on-site restaurant. From the air you can see the reef that runs offshore and the small beach beside the pool. Christiansted, with its boardwalk, restaurants and the ferries and boats out to Buck Island, is a short drive east. A car is the easy way to get around the island, and St. Croix drives on the left.

Who it suits

Families and small groups who want to be near the water and near town, and who would rather spend on days out than on a private villa. Couples travelling together will like the two bathrooms. If you want a private pool, a big view terrace or total quiet, one of SP Vacations' villas on the East End is the better fit.

Good to know

Two bedrooms (one with two queen beds and its own bathroom, one with a king), two bathrooms; sleeps six. The beach, pool and garden are shared with the rest of the complex. Free parking, Wi-Fi, a washer and dryer, and beach essentials are provided. The condo is managed and booked by SP Vacations (Sterling Point Real Estate) in St. Croix.
