Toes in the Sand Beach House is a three-bedroom, three-bath house in a gated community on St. Croix's north shore, west of Christiansted, with 24-hour security at the gate and the sea at the back door. It is a single-storey white house with pale blue roofs, a pool on a stone terrace above the shoreline, and windows that run almost the full width of the sea side. It sleeps eight.

The space
The main room holds the kitchen, dining and living areas under a high ceiling of wood boards and exposed white beams, with large windows onto the water. There is an island to gather around while dinner comes together, and the whole house is air-conditioned. "The entire back of the home has floor-to-ceiling windows, so you have incredible views from most vantages," wrote one January guest.

All three bedrooms have an ocean view, and guests travelling as three couples have singled out how evenly matched the rooms are; one called that "hard to find." There are three full bathrooms, an outdoor shower for coming in from the shore, and a washer and dryer.

The setting
Outside, the private pool sits on a sun terrace lined with loungers, with a covered gallery alongside for shaded seating and meals. A short path leads from the garden down to the shore. Be clear about what that shore is: guests describe it as rocky with strong waves, good for walking and watching rather than swimming. It is a surfing spot, and several reviews mention watching surfers out on the break every morning. "If you like to walk and treasure hunt, the sea glass is amazing," one June guest wrote. The pool is the swim at the house.

Mornings are the time to be on the terrace: one guest's advice was to make a coffee early and watch the sun rise above the pool and the sea. Christiansted's restaurants, shops and boat trips are a short drive east, and guests describe the house as central enough to reach all four coasts in a week. A car is recommended, and St. Croix drives on the left.
Who it suits
Families, groups of friends, and three couples sharing a week. Reviews come from a family of four, a party of eight, and a girls' trip of four, and the evenly sized bedrooms make it fair to share. It suits people who want to hear the surf from bed and swim in a pool. It suits less well those whose idea of a beach holiday is wading in from the front door, and families with small children who would want calm water at the house.
Good to know
Three bedrooms, three baths and four beds; sleeps eight. The pool is private to the house. The beach in front is rocky with surf, and reviews say it is not one for easy swimming. A guest also noted that water pressure and internet bandwidth are limited, so plan showers and streaming around that. A private chef and housekeeping are available on request. The house is managed and booked by SP Vacations (Sterling Point Real Estate) in St. Croix.
