This two-bedroom condo sits where the building meets the water, on the calm north end of Kihei, so the Pacific stays in view from the living room, the dining table and a private lanai.
It is one of four bungalows run by Megan and Bryan, a Maui couple who have hosted here since 2012 under the name Maui Beachside Bungalows — guests also know them by their Instagram handle, @sea.sun.maui. The space
The condo sleeps four across two queen bedrooms, both cooled by central air conditioning; one looks toward the water. The single bathroom was rebuilt with a glass walk-in rain shower over a pebble-stone floor, a marble-look vanity and brass fittings — a shower rather than a tub, sized for rinsing off after the beach.
The kitchen runs the length of one wall: quartz counters, a gas double-oven range, a full-size French-door refrigerator, and open shelving stacked with the dishes and glassware guests actually reach for. Past the kitchen, the living and dining area opens through a wall of glass to the lanai, where a small table for two catches the morning light.
The setting
Kihei Holiday sits on close to two oceanfront acres at the quiet north end of Kihei, on Maui's south shore, fronting Sugar Beach — at three miles, the longest stretch of sand on the island. The town's restaurants, grocery stores and farmers' markets are five to ten minutes south; Wailea's golf courses and fine dining are roughly twenty minutes further; Kahului Airport is about forty minutes away.
From November through April, humpback whales are visible offshore, breaching within sight of the lanai often enough that guests mention it without being asked. In the evening, the light over the West Maui Mountains across the water turns the whole north end of Kihei gold. One review on the property's own site puts the outcome simply: "The view was even better than the photos."
Who it suits
This suits two couples, or a family of four who would rather cook most nights than go out. The setting favours guests who want an ocean view and an easy walk to the sand without the busier commercial stretch further south in Kihei — quiet enough to hear the surf at night, central enough that Wailea and the drive up to Haleakala are both within reach. It is not built for a crowd: with one bathroom and two queen bedrooms, four guests is the practical limit, and Megan and Bryan check guests in themselves rather than routing them through a management company.
