The masthead

Mariko Sato

Design Editor

Mariko covers the architecture and interiors of hospitality — the awards, the renovations, and the handful of new buildings each year that actually deserve the word landmark. Trained in architecture before turning to writing, she judges a lobby by its section drawing and a suite by where the light lands at four in the afternoon.
